CHARLESTON – Eastern Illinois director of track and field Brenton Emanuel has announced the addition of three athletes for the men’s track team for next season. Bradley Olysav, Chase Schmitt and Brady Webb were all added during the NCAA early signing period in November.

Olysav competes in throws at Williamsville High School. He was a Class 1A IHSA State Qualifier in both the discus and shot put as a junior. Olysav placed second in both events at the Tremont Sectional with a shot put mark of 49-1 1/2 and a discus mark of 160-10. He also advanced to the IHSA State Meet as a sophomore in the shot put with a throw of 47-10.75 at the El Paso-Gridley Sectional.

Schmitt earned a pair of medals at the Class 1A IHSA State Championships as a junior competing in throws at Pleasant Plains High School. Schmitt was third in the discus with a finals mark of 164-2. He placed ninth in the state in the shot put with a finals throw of 49-9. Schmitt helped his team win the Rushville Industry Sectional as he placed third in the shot put and won the discus with a sectional throw of 160-7.

Webb was a multi-event IHSA Class 1A State Qualifier for Forreston/Polo Co-op as a junior. He would place sixth in the state meet in the long jump with a finals mark of 21-9 1/4. He ran the second leg on the 4x400 meter relay that placed ninth at the state meet with a time of 3:29.45. Webb also advanced to the IHSA Championships in the 100 meter dash and on the 4x100 meter relay. As a sophomore he was the Oregon Sectional champion in the long jump with a mark of 21-0.5 to earn a trip to the IHSA State Championship.

EIU track opens the 2019 Indoor Season next Dec. 7 hosting the EIU Early Bird Meet in Lantz Fieldhouse.
