LEXINGTON, Ky. — Mattoon's Kira Wolf, who will be a junior, competed at the PGA Girls' Junior Championship at Kearney Hill Golf Links in Lexington, Kentucky.
There were 144 golfers, who ranged from ages 14 to 18, at the event. The cut was set at at 71 golfers after the first two rounds of the tournament.
Wolf missed the cut, but still shot a two-day total of 154 after shooting a 77 on both the first and second days of the event. Par for the course is 72 and the first round average among the 144 golfers was 74.86.
In her first round, Wolf had one birdie and was even going into the eighth hole. She had five bogies in the final 10 holes to finish with a 77.
In the second day, Wolf had two birdies, the first on her first hole of the day and she was even through her first seven holes. She also birdied her third hole on the back nine. She had bogies on three of her last five holes and finished with a 77 for the second day in a role.
Wolf has qualified for the IHSA in both her freshman and sophomore seasons and she finished in the top-10 individual in Class AA as a freshman.
