CHAMPAIGN — The Illinois football team got reinforcements at the receiver position on Monday.

USC graduate transfer Josh Imatorbhebhe announced his commitment to the Illini on Twitter. He will have two years of eligibility left in Champaign and is the third former Trojan to commit to Illinois as a graduate transfer, joining defensive end Oluwole Betiku Jr. and wide receiver Trevon Sidney. All three have two years of eligibility remaining and are immediately eligible.

"First and foremost I want to thank God for the peace he's brought me during this time as well as to everyone else who has been involved int his long and drawn out process," Imatorbhebhe wrote on Twitter. "Transitions are never easy, but the support has definitely helped to lighten the load. Without further ado I'm pleased to announce my commitment to ...

"THE University of Illinois; with a plan to get my Masters in Strategic Brand Communications. Thank you Coach Lovie (Smith), Coach Rod (Smith), Coach (Andrew) Hayes (Stoker), and entire UI staff. I can't wait to get to work."

Imatorbhebhe, a 6-foot-2, 215-pounder, took a redshirt in 2016 at USC after enrolling early. He played in six games in 2017, with two catches for 11 yards, and played in one game in 2018.

He was a four-star prospect out of North Gwinnett High School in Suwanee, Ga. He chose USC over offers from Alabama, Aubrun, Florida, Georgia and more.

Illinois has been in the market for receiver help all off-season. Three different receivers: Jeff Thomas, A.D. Miller and Dejon Brissett all committed and reneged their commitment.
