Lake Land women win sixth straight

MATTOON -- The Lake Land women’s basketball team cruised to an 81-40 home victory over Shawnee College Wednesday night.

Five players scored in double figures for the No. 13 Lakers for the first time this season, led by Jamie Sandschaefer’s 15 points.

“Really unselfish play by everyone making the extra pass,” Lake Land coach David Johnson.

Shawnee scored 10 or fewer points in three of four quarters.

The Lakers are 21-5 and 11-3 in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference. They play again Saturday at GRAC leader Wabash Valley College, which is 23-0 this season.

Shawnee dropped to 4-16 and 1-13 in the GRAC.
