Lakers sweep Lincoln Trail

Lake Land is rolling along in March and in Great Rivers Athletic Conference games.

The Lakers swept Lincoln Trail College Thursday afternoon in a doubleheader to pick up their eighth and ninth straight wins. They won the first game 9-0, then took the second 7-0.

In the first game, Frankie Izard and Allie Helton each went 3-for-3 and combined for five RBI. Abrienne Lee also collected three hits and a stolen base. Peyton DeChant and Delanie Johnson each went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two runs. Five Lake Land players recorded multi-hit games. Sydney Rawlings moved to 8-7 with a win on the mound. She threw five innings and struck out five batters.

Lee pitched five innings and recorded seven strikeouts to pick up the win in the second game. Her record is now 6-1. She also went 1-for-2 with an RBI double. Johnson added a triple and two RBIs, while Helton drove in a run to give her four RBIs between the two games.

Lake Land is now 23-11 this season and 12-2 in the GRAC. It travels to John A. Logan Saturday for a doubleheader.
