Lake Land women end regular season with win

BELLEVILLE, Il. — The No. 15 Lake Land women's basketball team concluded its season in style.

The Lakers defeated Southwestern Illinois College 83-46 Friday night. Avery Jackson led them with 25 points. Arie Sims added 15.

Lake Land made 17 3-pointers and scored its first 18 points off triples.

Lake Land will take a 23-7 record and 13-5 mark in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference into the postseason, which starts Wednesday. The Lakers host Danville Area Community College in the quarterfinals of the NJCAA Region 24 tournament at 5:30 p.m. The winner advances to the semifinals on Saturday in Danville.

BELLEVILLE, Il. — Lake Land men's basketball lost its final regular-season game to Southwestern Illinois on Friday night.

The Lakers dropped a 102-87 decision to SWIC despite shooting 52 percent. They allowed SWIC to shoot 54 percent and make 13 3-pointers.

Josh Brewer led Lake Land with 20 points. Allante Harper added 19.

SWIC's Javonte Perkins, who has signed to play at Saint Louis University next season, led all scorers with 27 points.

Lake Land finishes the regular season with an 11-19 record (5-13 GRAC).
