CHARLESTON — It was a special night of racing at the Charleston Speedway on Saturday. The UMP Hornets were running a $500 to win feature. There were 82 cars at the track.
Mason Lynch jumped out front and held off Brandon Babb to win the Hornet feature. Lynch and Babb were the heat winners.
In the UMP Modified feature, Will Krup passed Marty Lindeman early in the race and the checkered flag for the victory. Roger Mills won the Consi feature. Ryan Cary, Krup, and Lindeman were the heat winners.
Matt Maier won his third UMP Street Stock feature of the year at the track. Josh Griffith and Maier were the heat winners.
In the UMP B-Mod division, Adam Scherer won his second straight feature after winning his heat race. Nick Miller was the other heat winner.
Points leader Jesse Simmons took the UMP Factory Stock feature. Gary Walker and Simmons won the heats.
In the Charleston Super Sprint division, Tommy Rockwell passed Willie Tackitt on the last lap for his second straight feature win. Tackitt won the heat race.
This weekend will be two big events. On Friday will be the Prelude to the Take 'Em Off 40 with UMP Modifieds running for $2,000 to win. UMP Factory Stocks and Midwest Winged Late Models will also be running. Saturday will be the 7th annual Take 'Em Off 40 with UMP Modifieds chasing a $4,000 prize for first and $300 to start the main event. UMP B-Mods, UMP Street Stocks, and UMP Hornets will also be in attendance. Both nights are being sanctioned by the American Modified Series (AMS). Gates open at 2:00, the Drivers meeting at 6:00, and Hot-laps at 6:30 both nights.
