CHARLESTON -- The Charleston Parks and Recreation Department is to have a doubles dart tournament Feb. 24 at the Panther Paw at 1:30 p.m.

The tournament is the best two of three games of cricket with a double elimination format.

The fee is $20 per team with players paying for their own games and you must be at least 21 to participate. 

There is to be a cash payout for the winners. 

Registration is available at the Panther Paw on the day of the event. For more information call the Charleston Parks and Recreation Department at 345-6897. 

EIU Spring Fling tickets are on sale

CHARLESTON — Tickets are on sale for this year's Eastern Illinois Athletic Department Spring Fling. Tickets are $75 per person for Panther Club members and $100 for non-Panther Club members. Groups can also purchase a table.

The evening includes food, live and silent auction items, and entertainment by the high-energy party band Recycle the Day. The event will start Saturday, April 7 in Lantz Arena at 6 p.m., with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. To purchase tickets, call 217-581-6014 or go online at This event has sold out each of the past six years.

The Panther Club Spring Fling is central to Panther Athletics fundraising. Proceeds from this year's event will help to fund student-athlete scholarships and operating costs for the entire athletics program.

Mattoon High School to have pork chop dinner

MATTOON — Before Friday's Mattoon boys' basketball game against Charleston, there will be a pork chop dinner. The dinner is at Mattoon High School.

The dinner starts at 5:30 p.m. and the cost for the dinner is $10 per person. All proceeds go to the Bionic group at Mattoon High School.
