SPRINGFIELD – Waterfowl hunters visiting Carlyle Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area (SFWA) for the upcoming South Zone hunting season should be aware of ongoing construction projects that may affect site access and hunting conditions.
Flood gate rehabilitation and levee stabilization projects designed to protect the levee from erosion will delay flooding of moist soil units used for waterfowl hunting. Construction equipment will remain on-site during the week and may affect hunters and other visitors.
To minimize disruptions, construction activities will be suspended during the youth waterfowl hunt Nov. 7 and opening weekend Nov. 14-15.
Hunters are encouraged to plan accordingly, use caution near construction areas and follow all posted signs and access restrictions while visiting the site.
