WAUKEGAN, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's bowling team wrapped up its second tournament of the season with an eighth-place finish at the Midwest DIII Round Up in Waukegan, Ill., Sunday, Oct. 18.
The Titans knocked down a pinfall of 3,653 in traditional play. The Green and White defeated Carthage 831-793 in traditional play and knocked off Aurora 743-732 in baker format. Marian's play over the two days was good enough for the tournament championship as the team narrowly got past IWU 743-732 in baker play.
The tournament saw freshman Morgan Robinson (Morton, Ill.-Morton) continue her strong rookie campaign. Robinson led the squad with a 923 pinfall in five games for a top-five finish. Her best game came in the final one as she hit for 214 on a difficult oil pattern. After a top-10 finish a week ago, Robinson has consecutive weeks of top-10 finishes, becoming the first Titan in program history to accomplish the feat.
Classmate Annalyse Johnson (Arlington Heights, Ill.-Hersey) delivered Illinois Wesleyan's best score of the day with a 223 in game five en route to a 791 pinfall and a 21st-place finish. Freshman Alyssa Barry (Abingdon, Ill.-Abingdon-Avon) knocked down 806 pins with her best score of 181 in the final game. Barry secured her first top-20 finish with a 17th-place showing.
