Seniors Amber Ehrlich (Springfield, Ill.-Glenwood) and Olivia Bell (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) took down Clara Hills and Logan Kane on court one. Sophomores Adia Douglas (Flossmoor, Ill.-Homewood-Flossmoor) and Elana Religioso (Mahomet, Ill.-Mahomet-Seymour) breezed by Madalena Priest and Arisa McCullough, 6-1.
In singles, Michel collected her first career singles win with a 6-3, 6-3 triumph over Kane on court two, giving IWU a 2-0 advantage. Lawrence earned a win at the top singles spot, but Religioso countered at No. 4 singles with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Shinohara. Bell and Douglas also collected straight-set wins at five and six singles, respectively, to secure the win. Van Heuklon capped off the match with a three-set comeback win, defeating McGlenn 6-7, 6-3, 10-3.
The Titans travel for the first time this season with a trip to Illinois College Tuesday, Sept. 8. First serve is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
