Millikin women’s golf posts record score at IWU Classic

Normal, IL – Millikin University women's golf was in action on Sunday, taking part in the final round of the IWU Fall Classic. Millikin shot a day-two 327 for a total of 641, taking 11^th place of the 20 teams in the field. The team score of 641 is the second lowest 36-hole score in the history of the program.

Lindsay Jackson followed up yesterday's strong performance on the par-72, 5,823-yard course by firing a 75. Her total on the weekend of 149 (+5) was good to tie for 7^th on the individual leaderboard. The freshman also collected the second lowest individual 36-hole score in program history. Ava Hackman tied for 19^th after a second-round 83 gave her a weekend total of 155 (+11). Zoey Beard bettered her round one score with an 81 on Sunday, placing her in a tie for 62^nd with a score of 163 (+19). Ruby Haegen shot an 89 to tie for 108^th after totaling 176 (+32) on the tournament. Tied for 116^th was Jaryn Haarmann, with a score of 180 (+36), and rounding out the scoring team in 119^th was Hailey Homann with a score of 181 (+37).

Playing as the individual, Madelyn Beck wound up in 111^th after shooting an 87 on Sunday to total 177 (+33) on the weekend. Maddie Bradbury tied for 125^th after scoring a 192 (+48).

"This has been one of the best weekends for Millikin Women's Golf." said Director of Golf Sam Osborne '10. "We showed how far we've come as a program, and beat a lot of ranked teams this weekend. I'm so proud of our women for staying tough, and being competitive in a deep field. A couple of standout performances from Lindsay and Ava, both inside the top 20. I like where we are, and I can't wait to tee it up at CCIWs."

Millikin will tee it up next at the CCIW Championships in Metamora, IL. The three-round tournament is slated to start October 1.
