Millikin men’s tennis sweeps Sunday road matches

Glendale, WI – Millikin University men's tennis returned to action for two matches throughout the day on Sunday. Millikin started off the day with a 7-0 sweep of College of Lake County in Grayslake, Illinois. The Big Blue then followed that up with a 5-2 victory against MSOE.

Play opened with the No. 1 doubles pairing of Colin Klein and Nicolas Siqueira, who emerged victorious, 6-3. At No. 2, Blake Robertson and Maxime Moreau swept the Lancers duo, 6-0. Matthew Kordesh and Elijah Aumann finished off doubles with a score of 6-1.

In singles play, Robertson won 6-3, 6-2 in No. 1 singles. Momentum stayed with the Big Blue into No. 2 singles with a win by Moreau, 6-2, 6-0. Nicolas Siqueira followed that with a victory of his own, 6-0, 6-3. Millikin's last three singles each resulted in a sweep. Eduardo Vargas swept No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0. At No. 5, Liam Miralles won 6-0, 6-0, and Morgan McNeice Sainz finished off the match, 6-0, 6-0.

Millikin 5, Milwaukee School of Engineering 2

In their second match of the day, the Big Blue secured the doubles point for the second time on Sunday. Colin Klein and Nicolas Siqueira teamed up in No. 1 doubles for a 6-2 win. Maxime Moreau and Blake Robertson were defeated, 6-3, in No. 2 doubles. Matthew Kordesh and Enzo Loots secured the doubles point for Millikin with a 6-3 victory.

Singles play saw Klein going the distance in No. 1 singles, losing 6-2, 4-6, 0-1 (8-10). In No. 2 singles, Robertson also went to the tiebreaker round, 4-6, 6-1, 0-1 (8-10). Kordesh earned Millikin's first singles win in No. 3 singles with a score of 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10-8). Siqueira followed that up with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Carlos Lopez. Moreau also won with a 6-3, 6-1 score in No. 5 singles. No. 6 singles saw Eduardo Vargas earn the win 6-1, 6-3.

Millikin will send two singles players and one doubles pair to the ITA Regional Championship in Brownsburg, Indiana, on Friday, Oct. 2. The rest of the Big Blue will return to action in winter for a road match at the University of Illinois-Springfield on Jan. 29, 2027.
